ALMOST ALWAYS A BIT OFF

I am one who can be described as an ALMOST ALWAYS A BIT OFF.

My birthday is June 11, a day off from independence day... a holiday.

I am the third of four, a bit off from being the LAST child and unqualified to avail of the ridiculous pampering and consideration given to the youngest ... BUT... also a bit off from being a MIDDLE child thus born without the unceasing drive to prove worthiness.

I was thin as a child when chubbiness was cute, and chubby at an age when thin is in.

My hair was straight when what mattered more to me was Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys... and evolved into curls and kinks at an age when hair was described as THE "crowning glory".

I have vied in several quiz bowls and became a champion...almost. In short, ALWAYS ALMOST a champion.

I can write and draw...almost good.

I was a member of the glee club where I did a lot of lip synch meaning... "almost singing" and with me ALMOST believing I can sing.

I was serious when I was expected to be gallivanting and carefree when supposedly devoted.

I have a lot of plans that almost came to past... and made decisions almost always without a plan.

When I throw the dart, almost always it is a bit off the target, and when the target is hit, the game is almost always over.

But I thank God my life is almost always a bit off because if it were not, how can I laugh?
